This item is packed in a bag with a one way gas valve which allows us to pack the coffee immediately after roasting - giving you the freshest coffee possible. Coffee gives off CO2 gas right after roasting and could explode the bag without the valve. Coffee in packages without a valve must be given time to release the CO2 gas and can't be packed immediately after roasting.
